SOLO
SOLO manufactures a complete range of garden equipment and arbour products including sprayers, chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers, hedge trimmers, blowers and cultivators.
In a small workshop in Germany, brothers Hans and Heinz Emmerich began the development of the first small two stroke engine. The company was founded in 1948, and in the same year the first KMS30 engine was born. Intended as a power source for portable machines, the KMS 30 weighed in at 6.35 kilos yet produced 1.2hp, which was an incredible feat. At that time, the ‘lightest’ industrial engines weighed as much as 15 kilos.
This innovative small engine technology from SOLO provided a world first in product development of ‘engine driven backpack dusting machine’ and ‘backpack mist blowers’. In fact, the development of the SOLO motorised cycles and mopeds of the 1970s and 80s gave the young people of that era their first taste of independence and freedom.
This pioneering spirit, entrepreneurial courage and talent for innovation is now faithfully upheld by the second generation of the founding ‘Emmerich’ family.
SOLO was one of the first companies to supply chainsaws and brushcutters in Australia and remain a world leader in two stroke technology. Since 1948, SOLO has earned global recognition as a leading manufacturer of superior quality spraying equipment. SOLO is known in Australia as having the No.1 backpack sprayer used by City Councils, Contract Gardeners, Nursery Professionals and Rural Farmers.
SOLO has been exclusively distributed in Australia by Clayton Engineering since 1975.
